Nascar and Indy may rule on land but on the open seas, offshore performance boat racing rules the waves. Poker Runs America’s editorial man- date is to promote the growth of per- formance boating. Whether it involves poker runs or offshore racing, our mes- sage is simply that performance boat- ing is one of the most satisfying leisure- time activities you’ll ever experience. It doesn’t matter what size performance boat you own or how much power it has. If poker runs, racing or just flexing your throttles on the water turns you on, your our kind of reader. Maybe you don’t even own a performance boat - yet! After we show you all the fun you’ve been missing out on, we’re confident that you’ll soon be paying your local dealer a visit. After all, we know the real truth: once performance boating gets in your blood, there’s no turning back. Our readers come from all the walks of life. They want to know everything they can about perfor- mance on the water. They want to know where to go and what they have to do to have fun and meet other people who share their interests. They may sign up for our APRA- sanctioned poker runs and they may also participate in other poker runs across the nation. If they love racing (what poker runner doesn’t!), they simply want fast-paced, heart stop- ping action on the high seas. But more importantly, we want every poker run to follow some common sense safety guidelines so no one gets hurt. The same goes for offshore racing. Let’s face it, we’re all dedicated to the growth of performance boating. In Poker Runs America magazine we fea- ture special reports on a wide variety of events across the nation. Some of the excitement is that the Liebel legacy continues with Cole Liebel on the wheel and multi-time World Champion Gary Balough on the throt- tles. Performance boat Center is build- ing their own catamaran with owners Brett Manire and Mark Waddington along with Mercury Veteran Johnny Bauer. Formula introduces Hull One in Center Console manufacturing. Also in this issue familiar faces lead the field in Clearwater Offshore Nationals while John Cosker’s new 52 Mystic is getting great reviews and for the small water and rivers the 29’ Velocity is a real rocket hitting 100 mph. Plus more as you leaf through the pages. Whether it involves poker runs or offshore racing, if we work together to achieve the common goal we all share, we can make sure that performance boating takes its rightful place as one of the world’s greatest motorsports. The watch is a throwback to the world of gentleman drivers and embodies the beauty of the sport. Time to Race isn’t a limited series, rather each watch is a unique creation. Collectors can personalize their model by selecting a one- or two-digit “lucky number” that is on the front of the timepiece. The watch is available in either Rosso Corsa, Racing Green or French blue and designers drew from popular racing colors from the 1960s era as inspiration. The dial side showcases the chronograph mechanism. A glare-proof sapphire crystal allows an owner to appreciate the column-wheel mechanism. An inner bezel ring allows for two dif- ferent reads of short-time measurements: A tachymeter scale and a 60-second display. The various elements—levers, clutch, hammers, column wheel, springs and wheels—are set into motion and interact with the goal of activating the chronograph and measuring time. Louis Moinet’s timepiece, which retails for about $31,000, requires the production of 147 components for the upper part dedicated to the chronograph and 164 components for the lower part correspond- ing to the self-winding movement. The luxury watch design will build 297 watches total for the series. That’s right, the Nautilus can operate as a yacht or a submersible. U-Boat Worx, a builder of small submersibles, is behind the 123-foot ves- sel concept. A model of Nautilus made its debut at the Monaco Yacht Show. The diesel-electric Nautilus has a depth rating of 200 meters (656 feet), with a surface cruise speed of 10 mph and an underwater speed of 4.6 mph. Once ordered, the owner is expected to take delivery within 30 months. When operating as a boat, the Nautilus offers a massive sundeck equipped with a freshwater pool, a bar, and a dining table. This al fresco arrangement is retracted before the submersible slips below sea level. A newly invented, pressure-resistant electrical tender is stowed under the Nautilus’s aft deck and will stay outside while diving. The tender, the Aronnax, may also be used for transporting five scuba divers underwater to the intended dive spot. The Nautilus interior features a dinner and lounge area with four circular windows. The proposed design for the submarine, starting at $25 million, has a master bedroom and four staterooms, as well as sleeping quarters for up to six crew members. The superyacht submarine will be able to stay underwater for up to four days. At cruise speed, the underwater time is six hours.
